Microsoft is planning several updates to its Outlook app for iPhone and iPad. As explained by The Verge, Microsoft will roll out features such as iPad Split View, smart folders, and more to the Outlook app over the coming weeks. With Split View support, you can run Outlook alongside other apps on your iPad. For instance, you can have Outlook open in one instance, and browse in Safari at the same time....

A new project called Thinga.Me from Microsoft’s experimental Garage team aims to offer users a way of organizing and sharing real-world objects through a new iPhone app. Currently part of an invite-only closed beta, the app automatically isolates real-world objects in photos that users snap, allowing the objects to become in-app items that can be managed on digital shelves and in collections for sharing and organization. Microsoft announced today that it is starting to roll out Dark Mode support to the Outlook application on iOS. The company has also committed to rolling out Dark Mode to all of the Office applications on iOS ahead of the release of iOS 13 next month, which is the first to include a system-wide Dark Mode. In a blog post, Microsoft’s Jon Friedman offered details on the company’s design thought process for Dark Mode for Outlook....

A forensics consult and security researcher who analyzed metadata from leaked photos of Kate Upton said that the photos appear to have been obtained using software intended for use by law enforcement officials, reports Wired. The software, Elcomsoft Phone Password Breaker (EPPB), allows users to download a complete backup of all data on an iPhone once the iCloud ID and password have been obtained. If a hacker can obtain a user’s iCloud username and password with iBrute, he or she can log in to the victim’s iCloud....
