Microsoft has ported a number of its most popular services and applications to Android and iOS over the past few years since the entire Windows Phone ecosystem ground to a halt. At GDC 2019, Microsoft now looks set to announce that further cross-platform Xbox Live support will be coming to Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. Originally spotted by the guys over at Windows Central, this information comes via a GDC session scheduling website that describes Microsoft’s future plans for the gaming platform....

Windows 10 Preview Build 18252 New Enhances settings for Ethernet include the ability to use the Settings app to configure advanced Ethernet IP settings. There is support for configuring a static IP and preferred DNS server. A new icon for disconnected internet is being introduced in this build as well – first seen on Always Connected PCs. The single icon appears when there is no data connection to cellular, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet....

Microsoft has hired Jerry Seinfeld to be the face of its new counter-offensive-cum marketing campaign. The oh-so-cool Microsoft will spend $300 million on a series of ads on the theme of ‘Windows Not Walls" (I’m yawning already, but there it is). The ads will feature the dramatic skills of popular in the US comedian, Seinfeld, and well known thespian, Bill Gates (acting? Who knew???). Seinfeld will get $10 million for his part advertising the world’s largest software company while working beside one of the world’s richest men....

It appears that Foxconn rewarded the long-time Marketplace Asia reporter for his work in exposing lies. From Fortune: You will recall Schmitz is the China correspondent who tracked down Daisey’s translator and verified that almost none of what Daisey claimed he saw actually occurred....

Ant-Man 3 could introduce villain Kang the Conqueror to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The future of the MCU is taking shape, and the latest reports are that director Peyton Reed will return in Ant-Man 3. It’s expected to begin production in January 2021, ahead of a 2022 release date. This is Marvel’s best chance to explore the Quantum Realm, a mysterious dimension that can only be accessed by a Sling Ring or Pym Particles....

Midsommar was one of the most successful films of the year, frightening viewers with ritualistic terror and a music score that’ll keep you up at night. Microsoft released a new version of its Sky for Web client earlier this week in a bid to make the service easier to access. Now, however, the company has confirmed that Skype for Web is no longer supported in Safari. In a statement to VentureBeat, Microsoft explained that Skype for Web uses a “calling and real-time media” framework that functions differently across the various browsers. Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge comes with a new Chakra JavaScript engine and Microsoft informs that it has ‘made a lot of performance advances’, which is now allegedly loading faster than any other major browser currently out there – Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft’s own Internet Explorer. December brought updates to Teams meetings, chat and collaboration, devices, security and compliance, government and Teams Phone. Microsoft started rolling out end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for one-to-one Teams calls in December, which must be enabled by admins rather than being a default.
