Microsoft Office on Android When Microsoft first invited users to test Office on their Android devices back in November, it was relegated to ARM-based tablets running KitKat. Now the company has added Lollipop to testing and has also opened it to the public since the program received an overwhelming response. Yes, your device has to be a tablet – smartphones will have to wait for now. The apps are the same Office core apps available on iPad – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint....

With the release of Windows 7 today, Microsoft also released an updated version of their Security Scanning Tool – Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer or MBSA Version 2.1.1. Microsoft says this latest release builds on previous versions by adding support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. The free Windows security scanning tool is a must for the InfoSec toolkit or any IT pro for that matter. It’s nice to see MS didn’t waste any time getting this out....

Today the Redmond software giant has just announced a new company logo. This marks the first change in Company-Wide Microsoft branding since 1987, when the sans serif font was adopted. The logo is easily recognizable as the same icon posted above each and every Microsoft retail store. According to a report form The Verge, Microsoft is about to for the first time ever release a new OneNote app for Mac users. The popular note taking and productivity app was for most of its 10 year life available to only Windows users and only in recent years became available for iOS and Android devices. While the mobile versions of the app are available for free, Microsoft has traditionally charged for the desktop Windows version of the app....

Windows 10 Redstone 5 Build 17758 In today’s announcement, Microsoft points out there are some new improvements for Storage Sense including making OneDrive files on-demand only. Trickbot, known for stealing banking credentials and delivering ransomware, seemed unstoppable once. It continued to thrive despite an effort led by Microsoft in 2020 to patch millions of infected PCs and take down most of its command and control (C2) servers, with the exception of its Internet of Things (IoT) C2 devices, until it finally shut down earlier this year. Now, Microsoft has filled in one detail about how the TrickBot gang’s IoT C2 devices, namely compromised MikroTik routers, were being used since 2018 for stealthy communication with infected PCs....

Microsoft has pushed out updates for its OneNote client on both iPhone and iPad, adding support for new features added in iOS 8 and a design that’s optimized for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Users can now password protect sections of documents directly from mobile devices (a feature that used to require a Windows PC). Those with an iPhone 5s or newer will also find that they can now unlock password-protected sections of documents using Touch ID....

Microsoft has announced that it has launched new Defender for Containers and Microsoft 365 Defender solutions for detecting and remediating Apache Log4j vulnerabilities. Defender for Containers was introduced on December 9, combining the capabilities of Microsoft Defender for Kubernetes and Microsoft Defender for Container Registries and introducing additional features including Kubernetes-native deployment, improved threat detection, and vulnerability assessment. Earlier this week, Microsoft had upgraded its Defender for Containers solution to detect container images that are vulnerable to the flaws in Log4j....
