The new firmware update will enable FDD-LTE (1800MHz) on the following models: Lumia 1520, Lumia 1320, Lumia 930, Lumia 925, Lumia 920, Lumia 830 and the Lumia 625. As a matter of fact, the devices already had 4G radio built in and apparently, due to the unavailability of the LTE networks during the launch prompted them to disable this connectivity option. If you own any of the Lumia devices mentioned above, you can either install the update from the push notification, else can also force update the phone....

There was more than one misconduct claim that the restaurateur had to address during the reunion special of The Real Housewives of Potomac. Probably still reeling from all publicity around these shots, Microsoft reportedly told journalists gathered for a company press event in Germany not to use or mention Apple products. Our German is a bit rusty and Google is even worse, but according to Handelsblatt and our bad translation: “While at a Windows Mobile 6.5 demonstration in Munich, Germany a journalist was warned by a Microsoft spokesman not to mention or use Apple products…since it was a Microsoft event the journalist had previously told everyone that he had never owned an easier to use cell phone than the iPhone....

The company has announced qualified college and university students can obtain Windows 7 for $30 in the US and £30 in the UK. The OS is available to students for pre-order now and will be released for download on October 22 in the US. In the UK pre-orders start September 22, while students in other countries will be able to take up the discount from October 22. Microsoft has lost many students to Apple in recent years....

Microsoft has been updating its core apps for Windows 11 with rounded edge windows. The visual refresh applies to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, according to Microsoft. Microsoft has recently kicked off a new campaign that offers iPad users a $200 Microsoft Store gift card to trade-in their Apple tablet. While the gift card is applicable to any item inside of Microsoft’s stores, the company is positioning the offer as push for sales of the Surface tablet. The deal ends on October 27, 2013. This campaign is just one aspect of Microsoft’s attempts at trumping Apple’s iPad. Adobe Flash Player Update KB4010250 This Flash Player vulnerability affects all operating systems and Adobe released updates to resolve the issues last week. Supported browsers like Chrome and Firefox have already been patched using their own auto-updating mechanisms. The problem is that Microsoft Edge was still vulnerable because of the delay as it relies on Microsoft’s regular Patch Tuesday to get updated. Luckily, the company released MS17-005 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player (4010250)....
