Microsoft has updated its OneDrive iOS app to provide iPhone 6s/Plus owners with the ability to Peek at the contents of folders with a soft press and Pop them open with a hard press. Additionally, and amusingly, if you’ve ever felt like shaking your iPhone in frustration when an app fails to behave itself, doing so in OneDrive now allows you to report a problem. Version 7.1 of the app has also had a very minor refresh of the look....

At its world partner conference event, company’s COO Kevin Turner revealed HP’s new lineup – “Stream” – that costs just $199. And wait, that’s not all. There are $249 laptop from other OEMs like Acer and Toshiba as well. The Stream lineup also have 7- and 8-inch Windows running PCs that cost just $99. While Acer’s laptop sports a 15.6-inch screen, people looking for small-sized laptops can go with Toshiba’s 11....

The promotion is running to increase Microsoft Surface tablet sales, but thankfully when you trade in your iPad you won’t be limited to purchasing only a surface since the gift card they give you will work on anything in the MS store, even online....

Multiple reports suggest that what could have been a massive threat to iPhone sales has now been resolved. One interpretation of an executive order by President Trump would have banned Apple from doing any business with WeChat owner Tencent, even in China. It was calculated that this could have cost Apple as much as 30% of its global iPhone revenue … Background Earlier in the month, President Trump signed an executive order banning US companies from doing business with Chinese companies ByteDance and Tencent, owners of TikTok and WeChat respectively....

AT&T and Microsoft are working together on Azure Operator Distributed Services, with initial testing stages planned for later this year, Microsoft officials said. As part of today’s announcements, Microsoft said a private preview of the Azure Operator 5G Core, which deploys on the Azure Operator Distributed Services platform, is now available. Microsoft is also making a public preview of the Azure Private 5G Core, a 5G packet-core-as-a-service for the aforementioned Azure private MEC solution....

The latest example of Microsoft’s openness is the PowerShell command line tool. The software firm announced it would bring the software to platforms such as OS X and Linux for the first time. PowerShell is a command-line and scripting tool used for system administration of Windows based network environments. PowerShell is deeply integrated throughout many of Microsoft’s server-based products such as Windows Server and Exchange Server. Microsoft came to the realization that many of its customers were running heterogeneous environments that contained a mix of Linux and Windows based systems....

Microsoft today announced the Explorer Touch Mouse, their third multitouch-capable mouse, the other two being the Touch Mouse and the Arc Touch Mouse. The selling point? The Explorer Touch Mouse features a touch strip that supports four-way scrolling by swiping in any direction. Plus, its scroll wheel allows for three speeds of scrolling. Other perks include five programmable buttons and sexy design bound to turn heads with its smooth curves, rounded appearance and the minimalistic surface....

Microsoft also is unveiling a new virtualization partnership with iDirect, which is a satellite provider, as well as additional goespatial and data analytics partnerships with ESRI, Blackshark and Orbital Insight as part of today’s milestone updates. Azure Space isn’t just for companies in the space industry. It’s meant to appeal to companies in public and private industry customers in the agriculture, energy, telecommunications, and government markets. Microsoft Ends Development of Cache Scrapbook App Cache was made available as a preview download for Windows 10, along with a preview for a iOS from Test Flight. I noticed last week, I wasn’t able to download the app on my iPhone from Test Flight, but thought it was probably a bug. Although I didn’t get around to testing the app fully, it seemed promising. Cache’s key feature was its ability to consume and organize media from a variety of sources, whether was a web page link, a screenshot, tweet, a picture saved or even Microsoft Office documents....
