Million Dollar Listing New York’s Steve Gold & Girlfriend Luiza Gawlowska have named their daughter after his great-grandmother. The 34-year-old real estate mogul and his girlfriend have finally decided on a name that means something to them and it happens to come from Gold’s family.
Before his career in real estate and reality television, Gold was a successful print and runway model. He worked with Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton, to name a few. Gold’s signature dark tresses and confidence have made him a standout since he joined the cast of Million Dollar Listing New York in 2017. In his real estate career, Gold is employed by The Corcoran Group (founded by Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran). He and Gawlowska have been together since August 2018.
According to People, the decision came after Gold and his partner rejected a number of other options for the infant, who was born June 6, 2019. In the beginning, the proud father seemed partial to traditionally Polish names such as Malwina, Zofia, Lena and Zuzanna (in honor of Gawlowska’s heritage). They sat down at the table, perusing a list of baby names. After vetoing the Eastern European monikers, Gold considered a different direction. Rose has been a mainstay with parents for decades. From 1896 to 1921, it was in the Top 20 among girls names. It was ranked #123 in terms of popularity in 2018. Parents flock to the name because it conjures visions of grace, beauty, and elegance. Other celebrities who have bestowed it upon their daughters are Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo and their eldest child Dusty Rose; Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis and her daughter Gemma Rose, and Scarlett Johansson and ex-husband Romain Duriac’s only child together, Rose Dorothy. For this couple, the name means even more than that. Gold explained that his great-grandmother was the backbone of the family, saying, “My dad describes her as the glue that held my family together.” He explains that he didn’t get much of a relationship with her, saying, “She died when I was 7.”
The newborn already appears to have a stabilizing impact on her father. Although he gives off a workaholic vibe, Gold maintains strong ties to his family. In time, it will be interesting to see if Rose grows up to follow in her father’s real estate footsteps, or if she pursues modeling. Until then, this little girl has two parents who dote on her, and have allowed her to walk through the world with a name that is both strong and evocative: Rose Gold.
