One of the most horror thrillers of 2019, Midsommar, definitely gave us an unforgettable experience. Directed by Ari Aster and produced by A24 Studios, this flick takes us on an intense and thrilling ride through a small community in Sweden. We know you’re obsessed with this film, regardless how disturbed it made you feel. However, sometimes looking at some adorable and wholesome behind-the-scenes photos makes the world a happy place again.
We know you love this cast, and they let us into their filming process with some pretty spectacular social media posts. Without further ado, here are 10 wholesome pics from behind-the-scenes with the Midsommar cast, courtesy mostly of the talented Florence Pugh.
Umbrellas & Flowers. Totally Normal.
In case this entire scene was entirely disturbing, this shot might just restore your faith in humanity. Not only is Florence smiling through flowers, but the umbrella definitely makes this photo more wholesome and hilarious. In case you were wondering, her caption lets us know that those flowers are actually stacked on a bunch of pillows. Just some director tricks to bring your favorite creepy scenes to life.
Nap Time
While this entire room certainly gives us the creeps, apparently the cast was still able to take some power naps during filming. The boys are just chilling, pretending life is better than it is inside this flick.
According to Florence, apparently they did have some pretty good musical entertainment while they were taking a breath in the heat. That is definitely one way to lift your spirits during some down time on set.
The Bros (& Flowers)
This post is courtesy of the brilliant William Jackson Harper, and is a photo with all three of these studs in some pretty handsome suits. Flower crowns permanently give us the creeps now, but those two kind of look absolutely adorably cool in those gorgeous crowns. These three boys are bro goals, and we’re digging this post that proves their friendship made it through their trip to Sweden.
Some Director Love
Ari Aster is the incredible (and twisted) mind behind this film. You’ll probably also know that he directed the horror flick Hereditary, which is equally as intriguing and suspenseful. However, it’s clear this man is actually a sweet soul, and even participated in some pretty wholesome selfies with the main gal of the film. These two aren’t the least bit creepy, but they did manage to curb their free spirits and give us an intense film.
An Unlikely Friendship
This shout out post to Jack Reynor is totally sweet. Granted, we all probably feel a bit icky about these two, but that’s all put aside after reading Florence’s wholesome thank you to her co-star.
These two were clearly each other’s rocks throughout filming, and it’s pretty adorable to know that they helped each other through the emotionally difficult roles they each played. Through chili and hugs, these two made it work, and they’re definitely now friendship goals.
Casual Lounging
We’re not sure what part of this photo is our favorite. From William Jackson Harper casually slurping a coffee with some pretty cool shades to Florence Pugh being her adorable self and chowing down on a granola bar, this whole shot is totally wholesome. Apparently, William is also quite the Star Wars fan, and we might need to get him to sing the tune for us. These two chilling definitely puts our minds at ease. Plus, Dani’s outfits this entire flick are fire.
A Brilliant Selfie
This full cast selfie is definitely giving us all of the feels. From Florence’s wide smile to the rest of the ridiculous faces being made, this cast has our whole heart. Posted by Vilhelm, we’re glad to see that this cast got along behind the scenes of this thriller.
Honestly, we think that Jack’s side wink is probably the best part of this shot. However, this whole cast survived the shoot and made some pretty adorable friendships along the way.
The Not-So-Scary Yellow Building
Seeing a picture of them all walking back from this building probably sends chills up your spine. We know what scene they just filmed, but we’re happy to see some smiling faces. In fact, we’re sure they’re just incredibly relieved to have shot the scene. Florence’s hashtag, #bestoflucktoyou, pretty much sums up our viewing experience of this film. Still, this photo is super wholesome and cute, and we love a behind-the-scenes look on some of the most crucial scenes.
More Rain & More Flowers
In case you needed any more reasons to want to be best friends with Florence Pugh, this might be the cutest photo of this talented woman on the internet. Not only does she give an adorable shout out to the people who worked tirelessly on creating the iconic flower dress, but this photo is actually so special. From ponchos and umbrellas to the big headphones, Florence has stolen every single one of our hearts. We’re happy to know this movie experience still left her sweet and wholesome.
The May Queen
In case the May Queen scene and the dancing really twisted your insides, this photo of Florence fanning herself in the Hungarian summer heat is one of the sweetest behind-the-scenes photos we’ve probably ever seen. It takes a lot of work to look so stunning, act so brilliantly, and dance your heart out while dying of heat. Clearly, this was one of the tricks that Florence used to combat the weather, and we’re loving every single second of it. Florence Pugh slayed this role, and while we’re sure you need more of her charm and talent, you can also catch her in the new flick, Little Women, where she even scored herself an Academy Award nomination.
