Features No Longer Available or Under Active Development in Windows 10 Creators Update

The list of features getting cut are likely just the start as Microsoft evaluates the OS, its use and continues to iterate on the final package.  It’s a living document meant to help IT professionals who are planning to release the Creators update in a corporate/commercial environment. With this in mind, I recommend you bookmark the announcement page and check it for updates from time-to-time.

Removed Features in the Windows 10 Creators Update

By default, Flash autorun in Edge is turned off. Use the Click-to-Run (C2R) option instead. (This setting can be changed by the user.)Interactive Service Detection Service.Microsoft Paint for languages that are not on the full localization list.NPN support in TLS (superseded by ALPN).Windows Information Protection “AllowUserDecryption” policy.WSUS for Windows Mobile, updates are being transitioned to the new Unified Update Platform (UUP).

Deprecated Features in the Windows 10 Creators Update

Apndatabase.xml is being replaced by the COSA database. Therefore, some constructs will no longer function. This includes Hardware ID, incoming SMS messaging rules in mobile apps, a list of privileged apps in mobile apps, autoconnect order, APN parser, and CDMAProvider IDApps Corner.Reading List.Tile Data Layer.TLS DHE_DSS ciphers DisabledByDefault.TCPChimney.IPsec task offload.

Again, these features might be of little concern to you if you don’t use Windows 10 in an organization. Most of these features and functions touch mostly the network stack, but a few are front facing, such as the Microsoft Paint localization list. The Windows 10 Creators Update, includes a new Paint app focusing on 3D and Community.
