Actor Michael B. Jordan will produce a new monster movie from Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the director of Kong: Skull Island. Recently, Jordan has been busy debunking Superman rumors.
In 2013, Vogt-Roberts released his debut feature The Kings of Summer, an indie coming-of-age drama. By 2017, Vogt-Roberts made a gigantic career leap with his second film Kong: Skull Island, a monster reboot starring Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. Produced for $185 million, Kong: Skull Island made over $566 million at the box office, thus making Vogt-Roberts a viable candidate to direct another creature feature blockbuster. The Detroit native is currently attached to direct Metal Gear Solid, a big screen adaption of the popular video game. Earlier this month, Oscar Isaac announced that he’d like to portray Solid Snake. For now, though, it seems that Vogt-Roberts will be busy with another project.
In 2018, Jordan experienced his most successful year as an actor, starring in Marvel’s Black Panther, Warner Bros.’ Rocky film Creed II, and the aforementioned Fahrenheit 451. Jordan’s career trajectory arc is significant, as he’s successfully transitioned from a child actor into a Hollywood A-list star. In 2002, Jordan starred in first season of HBO’s The Wire, which is widely considered to be one of the best TV series ever produced. Later in the decade, Jordan starred on NBC’s Friday Night Lights, and delivered a breakthrough film performance in 2013’s Fruitvale Station. The indie drama was directed by Ryan Coogler, who would later direct Jordan in Creed and Black Panther.
If Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society will produce Vogt-Roberts’ new monster film, then we can probably expect him to land a leading role. Considering Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island collaboration with Carol Danvers herself, Brie Larson, the new monster blockbuster could very well feature two MCU stars. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how the collective schedules align, especially since a Metal Gear Solid movie hasn’t been ruled out.
