Jailbreak developer Adam Bell has just published a new tweak that allows Facebook users to access their Chat Heads from anywhere. The tweak is called Message Box and it works remarkably well. It’s not 100% perfect yet, but it functions well enough to use full time without much of an issue.
Keep reading for more info on the tweak, including where you can get it before it hits Cydia.
I did notice a few little bugs in my testing, mostly involving the Facebook app itself. For example, opening the multitasking bar or Notification Center while the Facebook app is active will cause the app to turn black. There is no real side effect to this, and the problem resolves itself once you close the multitasking bar or Notification Center. Occassionally the Chat Heads don’t show message previews or new messages in the chat thread when they should, but it’s usually only a slight delay between when the message comes in and the Chat Head shows it.
Aside from those issues, the app works just like it should. It’s incredibly useful for quickly replying to your Facebook messages, and you can drag the icon stack around the screen to any position on either side to make sure it’s not in your way. You can also close the entire stack or individual threads, just like in the Facebook app.
