Will Netflix move forward with Medical Police season 2? The series is a spinoff of Adult Swim’s short-form comedy show Childrens Hospital, and features numerous character reprisals. Netflix released Medical Police season 1 in January 2020.
Medical Police season 1 stars Erinn Hayes as Dr. Lola Spratt and Rob Huebel as Dr. Owen Maestro. They’re recruited by a secret government agency known as G932 to stop the worldwide spread of a deadly virus that was transmitted by a 3D printer. The Netflix comedy series follows the docs all over the world as they develop a romantic bond, and deal with painful memories from the past. Medical Police season 1 builds to the revelation that Lola’s mentor, Professor Richard Waters (Fred Melamed), secretly plotted against her, and also that CDC director Benjamin Patten (Tom Wright) is responsible for the virus outbreak.
In the final episodes of Medical Police season 1, Lola and Owen travel back to Childrens Hospital in Brazil and square off against Patten’s secret operatives. Owen also performs brain surgery on Lola, resulting in a hilariously bizarre climax. The finale leaves several storylines that could be further explored by Medical Police season 2 on Netflix.
Medical Police Season 2 Renewal
Netflix hasn’t yet announced Medical Police season 2. If the streaming service follows their usual renewal/cancellation schedule, an official announcement will be made approximately three to six weeks after the initial season release. Medical Police season 1 debuted in full on January 10, 2020, so a decision about the series’ future will probably be made by March 1.
Medical Police Season 2 Release Date Info
Medical Police season 1 has received mostly positive reviews, and its dry humor may indeed resonate with general Netflix subscribers. If Medical Police season 2 is ultimately green lit, new episodes would presumably release in early 2021.
Medical Police Season 2 Story Details
In the Medical Police season 1 finale, Lola explores her subconscious during brain surgery and remembers that she has a tattoo with numerical data that will help her create a virus antidote. Meanwhile, Owen battles against the secret assassin Agent Tran, and uses a “tibial nerve slice” while defeating his enemy. The Childrens Hospital colleagues turn the cure into computer code, and transmit it to the world through a 3D printer, allowing the sick to breathe, sneeze, and cough all over each other to regain their health.
Medical Police season 1 concludes with a set-up for more episodes. Lola and Owen have now openly expressed their romantic feelings for one another, but have different plans for the immediate future (Lola wants a girls weekend; Owen wants marriage). A news report teases the premise for Medical Police season 2, as a Paraguayan gang has developed gene-altering technology and the doctors receive a call from associate Sloane McIntyre (Sarayu Rao), who is now the new director of the CDC.
