A new piece of concept art shows what Spider-Man’s Iron Spider suit could have looked like in Avengers: Infinity War. After a deal was finally settled between Sony and Disney, Spider-Man was brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the film Captain America: Civil War. Since this version of the character was widely accepted by fans, Tom Holland got to reprise the role for two Avengers movies and two solo Spider-Man films.

Like most Spider-Man movies, the web-slinger has gotten a few different suits during his story arc in the MCU. The character’s most recent appearance showed Parker sporting a newly designed black and red suit to go up against Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. When the character is first introduced, however, Parker was wearing a suit he had put together himself, before being upgraded to one designed by Stark. Parker wore this suit for all of Civil War and most of Spider-Man: Homecoming, before fans got a tease of the Iron Spider suit at the end of Homecoming. Parker would dawn the suit in the next few movies, but it could have looked very different in future films.

Ryan Meinerding has been sharing a lot of Spider-Man concept art on his Instagram page recently, one of which shows a comic-accurate Iron Spider suit. Meindering is the leader of the visual development team at Marvel Studios that has been working on MCU films since Iron Man. The unused Iron Spider design was previously teased by concept artist Ed Natividad for Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it looks as though Meinerding tried once again to get the character in the suit for Infinity War.

With the several costumes Spider-Man has already gotten, Spidey will likely get some new threads in Spider-Man 3. There was a brief scare that Spidey was out of the MCU, but Disney and Sony were able to strike a deal for Parker to be in at least two more Spider-Man movies with Marvel. It’s also been confirmed by Venom director Ruben Fleischer that Spider-Man will eventually cross over into Sony’s villain universe. Needless to say, there are plenty of films for the web-slinger to get another upgraded suit, or maybe even the infamous symbiote suit.

The comic-accurate Spider-Man suit obviously didn’t make it into Avengers: Infinity War, but many fans would have loved to see it on the big screen. That being said, the suit that did appear on screen was also widely accepted by fans because it was something fresh that still had a subtle nod to the comic-accurate suit. Marvel had no way of making everyone happy when it came to the Iron Spider suit, but at least fans have access to concept art like this to imagine what could have been.
