Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has introduced fans to the grand scale of Marvel’s multiverse and, in doing so, has introduced many powerful characters, such as America Chavez and Black Bolt, to the MCU. Along with the many other movies and shows in Phase 4, such as Eternals or What If…?, this phase has also shown to have some of the strongest characters seen in the MCU too.

  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits in November, and it will be a bittersweet MCU release. First, it will present the death of T’Challa, as Marvel chose to retire the character rather than recast him. This means a new Black Panther will debut, and one wonders if the power levels will increase or decrease with the new version. One thing that is known is that one of Marvel Comics’ most powerful characters will also debut in Namor the Sub-Mariner. If he even partially matches the power of his comic book counterpart, he will rank high on the list of the MCU’s most powerful characters, regardless of phase.

While some of these characters have been in the MCU since the beginning, most of these characters made their MCU debut in Phase 4. From gods to wildly powerful magic users and cosmic beings, there has been no shortage of absolute powerhouses seen in Phase 4, and fans believe that their powers will continue to grow in no time.

Loki

Ever since Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was introduced to fans in Thor all the way back in 2011, he has stood out as one of the most cunning villains in the MCU. However, throughout the years, Loki has become a hero and has displayed more of his power with each of his new outings.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits in November, and it will be a bittersweet MCU release.

Aside from the Frost Giant level strength and the illusions that always give him a leg up over his opponents, Loki showed in his solo show that he is also an extremely powerful telekinetic (which will likely get stronger as Phase 4 goes on).

Thena

Eternals introduced many strong characters to the MCU, and one of the strongest was Thena. An expert warrior with tons of battle experience, Thena can create powerful weaponry that could help her friends get the advantage on the battlefield. She also showed that she has impeccable superstrength, holding her own against the Deviant leader, Kro, and Ikaris when he attacked and betrayed the group.

Fans are hopeful for Angelina Jolie’s character to make another MCU appearance in the future as her combat skill and strength make her one of the most powerful MCU heroes.

She-Hulk

She-Hulk is one of the strongest characters in the MCU right now. However, strength is not everything when it comes to pure power levels. For one thing, the show revealed that her cousin Hulk is stronger than Jennifer in the early season training montage.

With that said, She-Hulk takes very little damage from her enemies and has beaten anyone who stepped up to her so far. The Wrecking Crew stood no chance, and she was able to destroy buildings and tear holes through concrete with ease.

Vision

The end of WandaVision left the future of Vision (now White Vision) in the air, and since he’s gotten the short end of the stick in recent movies, fans forget that Vision was introduced as one of the strongest characters in the MCU. Also having the power and knowledge that comes with the Mind Stone, Vision is a super-powerful android who possesses super strength, flight, and the ability to phase through matter.

As it’s uncertain where the Mind Stone currently is in the MCU, it’s tough to tell which version of Vision could appear later in Phase 4. However, given that there are so many unanswered questions surrounding White Vision, this is the one fans want to see the most.

Captain Marvel (Maria Rambeau)

With most versions of Captain Marvel proving to be a powerhouse, it’s no surprise that Maria Rambeau’s version showed an immense amount of strength and skill.

Although she was defeated by Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a glimpse at Maria Rambeau and her Tesseract-fueled blast showed exactly why the Illuminati considered her to be an asset to the team. Sadly, she was killed off moments after her arrival, but there’s always a possibility that she could be referenced in The Marvels.

Black Bolt

Vaporizing an alternate version of Doctor Strange with just a whisper, just one scene of Black Bolt showing off his deadly voice in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness showed fans that his power was on another level. Fans didn’t get to see Black Bolt use the full extent of his power, but Reed Richards made it known to Scarlet Witch that Black Bolt could have easily destroyed her if he didn’t give her that warning.

Although he only has one display of power in the film, the sheer destructive capabilities of Black Bolt and his quasi-sonic scream would have certainly cemented his place as one of the strongest characters in the entire MCU. Whether he will end up making another appearance in the franchise, however, is unknown.

Ikaris

Without a doubt, the strongest member of the Eternals was Ikaris. Having abilities, such as flight, superstrength, and laser vision, Ikaris proved to be so powerful that it took most of the other Eternals and their combined strength just to slow him down.

In fact, Ikaris’ strength was so impressive that he was one of the few MCU characters who has never really lost a fight. While this version of Ikaris ended up dying at the end of Eternals, there’s always a possibility that another, stronger variant of him could come back in the future.

Professor X

Although his time in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was cut short by a terrifying neck snap from Scarlet Witch, Professor X showed why he is such a powerful character by infiltrating the mind of Scarlet Witch. With the ability to project his will into the minds of others, Professor X can read and control the mind of anyone of his choosing.

With his gentle and caring nature, Professor X doesn’t normally try to instantly beat his opponents but instead reason with them (as seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). As it would take someone with stronger mental abilities than himself to put up a decent fight, Professor X can easily take down almost any foe.

Hulk

Hulk was once the strongest and most powerful character in the MCU. However, something happened to really stunt his power levels. He merged with Bruce Banner mentally and became the Smart Hulk. With the immense brain power, his overall power levels dropped significantly.

He is still stronger than She-Hulk, which he proved in her Disney+ series. However, even when he was still raging Hulk, Thor was able to beat him until Grandmaster cheated to help Hulk win. In Phase 4, Hulk only appeared in She-Hulk, and while he showed his strength, he just isn’t the same as he used to be.

Khonshu

Khonshu is a god and that gives him an immediate power boost compared to both regular mortals and Eternals alike. As the Moon God, he usually uses his avatar to do his fighting with Moon Knight. However, Moon Knight doesn’t come anywhere close to other heroes in power levels.

Khonshu, on the other hand, proved his might when he defeated other gods in battle and showed he is one of the most powerful deities on Earth. However, he does have one weakness. When someone knows the proper magic, they can imprison him with ease.

Thor

Thor proved in Thor: Ragnaok that he was more powerful than Hulk. While the big green guy almost beat him in their gladiatorial battle, Thor tapped into his real power and had Hulk beaten until Grandmaster cheated to help Hulk win.

Thor also proved his might when he defeated the all-father god Zeus in a fight and killed Thanos. With that all said, Thor could not beat Gorr the God Butcher, and instead he had to rely on his brains and compassion to convince Gorr to give up in the end.

Gorr the God Butcher

Gorr the God Butcher killed gods all over the universe until he finally met up with Thor. Even when he fought Thor and Mighty Thor together, Gorr the God Butcher still won in the end. It speaks wonders that his love for his daughter was the only thing that caused him to yield in the fight.

By beating Thor, Gorr proved his might over him and those he defeated vicariously, including Hulk and Zeus. He also killed some powerful gods, making him seem stronger than Khonshu as well. If not for his compassion, Gorr might have exterminated the world of all gods.

Strange Supreme (What If…?)

In an episode based on the premise of Doctor Strange losing his heart instead of his hands, fans see the true capabilities of the Sorcerer Supreme. In an effort to save Christine from her inescapable fate, Doctor Strange spends centuries absorbing the power of magical creatures to become a nigh-omnipotent being.

However, given that this version of Doctor Strange became so powerful that he accidentally caused the destruction of the world, it left fans to imagine what worlds, universes, or even multiverses he could also tear apart if he really wanted to.

Scarlet Witch

When Scarlet Witch was introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans had no idea that she would become one of the most prominent and powerful characters in the entire MCU. Fast-forward to today and Scarlet Witch has gone head-to-head with Thanos, rewritten reality, and has even posed a threat to the entire multiverse. She has also managed to defeat the powerful witch, Agatha Harkness, and bested Doctor Strange in combat too, thanks to the Darkhold enhancing her abilities.

While her future in the MCU as of now is unclear, Scarlet Witch has beaten many tough opponents over the years and has grown throughout her time in the MCU to be its most powerful character.

Ultron

It’s safe to say that the Ultron introduced to fans in What If…? is leagues above the Ultron previously seen in the MCU. This version of Ultron went on to obtain the super android body of Vision and then get all six Infinity Stones to become the strongest character ever seen in the MCU.

After Ultron became so powerful that he obtained cosmic awareness and became a threat to the entire multiverse, it took The Watcher forming an all-star superhero team (and a very plot-convenient arrow) to bring the evil android down (and it’s doubtful that fans will ever see a character this strong again in the MCU).
