McDonald’s is getting some attention today for using an iPhone 8 mockup to display screenshots of the company’s mobile app in a new promo email being sent to customers in Australia. The ad is using an unofficial rendering based on leaks and comes ahead of an official unveiling of the device by Apple expected next month. The promo email, as shared by users on Twitter, is attempting to promote the McDonald’s app’s mobile ordering features with a 25% offer....

Back in 2014, Microsoft announced that it was acquiring the popular multi-platform beta app distribution and testing solution HockeyApp. After previously sharing it would integrate HockeyApp’s features and functionality into the Visual Studio App Center, Microsoft has shared HockeyApp will officially be deprecated. HockeyApp became a popular app development tool with support for iOS, Android, and Windows. In a blog post, Microsoft president Brad Smith said it was coordinating its efforts to protect users in Ukraine with the Ukrainian government, the European Union, European nations, the US government, NATO, and the United Nations. “Several hours before the launch of missiles or movement of tanks on February 24, Microsoft’s Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) detected a new round of offensive and destructive cyberattacks directed against Ukraine’s digital infrastructure. We immediately advised the Ukrainian government about the situation, including our identification of the use of a new malware package (which we denominated FoxBlade), and provided technical advice on steps to prevent the malware’s success,” Smith said....

Microsoft has launched the latest stable version of its Edge browser to the public and it’s now available as a specific build for Apple Silicon M1 Macs. Microsoft started testing an M1 build of its Edge browser a couple of weeks ago with the Mac app’s beta. Now when downloading the browser from Microsoft’s website, all users are presented with the option to pick Edge for “Mac with Apple Chip.” That means Edge runs natively and doesn’t have to be translated through Rosetta 2 on Apple’s M1 Macs....

Today, Microsoft has released a new iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch application for IT administrators to manage their firm’s Office 365 servers. The application features Microsoft’s new flatter design language with large text. It allows administrators to manage the health and features of their Office 365 implementations. The application is free, and users obviously need to have Office 365 administrator rights and be apart of a firm with a subscription....

Microsoft brought its Edge browser to iOS back in November after testing in October, but without optimization for the iPad. That’s all set to change, according to Microsoft’s program manager for the product … Sean Lyndersay tweeted that the iPad version will be arriving in beta form this month. Thurrott suggests that the UI will emulate the Windows 10 look. It looks like the browser will be available for the iPad ahead of a version for Android tablets....

The important thing to note is that all existing users of SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro won’t have to worry about changing anything, or see any service disruptions. The name and logo will just change. While it make take a bit of getting used to, the name OneDrive actually makes sense with Microsoft’s new focus on merging Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox, Office 365 and its other services together.
